Lincoln Tech Awards Annual Scholarships to Outstanding Students
Lincoln Tech has proudly announced the 2015 scholarship winners who will be able to start their path to their new career on the right foot. The Scholarship Committee awarded 16 scholarships to well-deserving students who submitted competitive applications along with letters of recommendation, transcripts and attendance records. Scholarships were granted to students from Lincoln Tech campuses around the country:
The Barbara Kalinchak Excellence in Scholarship Award (Union, NJ Campus)
Recipient: Bjorn David - Electrical & Electronic Systems Technology
History: This award is named after Barbara Kalinchak, who began her career at Lincoln more than 50 years ago and spent a portion of that time at the Union Campus. She was a highly respected leader, colleague and friend to many in the Lincoln family, setting a high standard of excellence for herself, her colleagues and for Lincoln as a leader in the post-secondary education sector. She earned a reputation as a model of perfection and demanded excellence from those who worked with her. She was the first winner of the Chairman’s Field Service Award, which was instituted in 2002.
The David F. Carney Excellence In Nursing Award (for Practical Nursing students)
Recipients: Meghan Hess, Edison campus; Jacquelyn Williams, Moorestown campus; Alia McKeithen, Moorestown campus; Jacqueline Arias, Paramus campus; Lucyann Licausi, West Palm Beach campus
History: This award is named for David F. Carney, who joined Lincoln in 1999 as the Chairman and CEO of a small privately held system of technical schools. Through his vision and determination, Mr. Carney brought the company into the Post-Secondary Education Industry arena as a publicly traded company. He was the architect of several key acquisitions that broadened the diversity and educational programs of the company, and he increased the number of campus locations to 45. In 2007, under Mr. Carney’s watch Lincoln Technical Institute, Inc. was authorized to offer the Licensed Practical Nursing training program. After 11 years of leadership, Mr. Carney retired from Lincoln in 2010.
The Lawrence E. Brown Leadership Award

History: This award is named after Lawrence E. Brown, who served as President and then as Vice Chairman of Lincoln Educational Services from 1999 to 2007. Larry began his career in 1973 as a High School Coordinator at the Norridge, Illinois campus (consolidated into the Melrose Park campus in 2001). He continued to assume increased responsibility, including School Director and Director for two Chicago area schools, and relocated to the east coast in 1984 to become Regional Vice President in 1989. His dedication to Lincoln inspires the Lawrence E. Brown Scholarship Award.
