Lincoln Tech Race Team Burns Rubber at Englishtown
Training at Lincoln Tech in Union, NJ can take students beyond the classrooms and training bays – all the way to the legendary Englishtown Raceway! Honor Roll students at the school have rebuilt and highly-tuned a dragster while working side-by-side with ASE-certified instructors, and have been racing it in Englishtown!
“[Students] are seeing the fruits of their labor,” says Lincoln Tech instructor Joe Baton. Those students take the lead making adjustments that improve the speed and overall performance of the car. On the track, they can see the results of their modifications firsthand.
Students build comradery and learn to work as a “pit crew” as they adjust the car for each run. “What could be better?” says Lincoln Tech Honor Student Carlos Barbieri, a member of the Lincoln Tech race team. “This school is great. You get to learn a lot and have fun with people who enjoy the same things you do!”
“This is what we do here at Lincoln,” Baton says. “You enroll in school, and you learn how to work on cars. [If] you make the Honor Roll, you get put on the race team and you get to play with cool race cars!”
