"Service over self. For years my fiancée and I discussed how my working schedule didn't allow me to better serve my community, she knew I wanted more out of life and I did too. Last April I left the manufacturing industry to pursue a career in education, it was scary, it was new, I had no idea what the future held for myself, my family and my community and... for the first time in my life I was the expert in the room.
Fast forward a year later, I accepted the Department Lead position. I realized that I could do more, offer more support, help institute new policies that have the student's best interest in mind and ultimately better serve my community. I love every moment of it. Today I wouldn't be who I am if it wasn't for all the support, guidance and mentorship I have received.
